How to change B1/B2 visa to F-status.?

Hi! My question is: If I come to the USA with B1/B2 (visitor's visa) that has a notation I am a prospective student, how can I apply for F-status during my stay in America? Is it correctly that if I would like to get a notation about my prospective study I should mention it in my purposes of my trip to the U.S.(on DS-160 form)? Or are there other ways to get this notation?
