How do I get my driveway widened?

I have a fairly wide parking area by my garage because of the short length of my driveway. The only problem is only half of it has the smooth transitional curb, and the other half is the full steep curb. I just don't know if there are restrictions on driveway width in cities or even what department to contact to get it widened. Anybody know what department would be able to change the steep curb to the slight curb?How do I get my driveway widened?
