How can I legally change my son's name?

I live in the state of Texas and my son is 7 months old. It bothers me that he doesn't have a middle name and I made a mistake in the beginning to opt not to have one, but I really want to add one now. What are the steps for my husband and I to legally add the name? Please help. Is there a website I can go to? Is there a fee? Would his SSN be the same? Is it necessary to get a lawyer? How can I legally change my son's name?
Here is the law pertaining to changing the name of a minor in the State of Texas. As his parents, the two of you can file your petition at your local county courthouse. A lawyer will be a bit expensive, but if you can afford it then this will make it easier for you. If money is tight, this is absolutely something you can do yourself. The people in the Clerk's Office should be able to direct you to the correct paperwork.

His social security number would remain the same. You would simply need to take a copy of the final order signed by the judge with your son's new name down to the social security office to get his name changed in their records.

You go before a judge and ask for permission to change his name. You don't need a lawyer, and just go in to your local courthouse and ask for a time for a family court judge. You'll have to pay for court costs (couple hundred dollars at most.)
my parents used a lawyer when my last name was changed ( when i was 7). it makes things alot easier because there is a ton of paper work to do and it all has to be correct. my SS num stayed the same though since i had savings bonds that had my original name but had my ss number on it. as for the fee i dont know the correct number but what i can tell you is that starting out my family did not have the money virtue and where still able to afford it.
