Would the course of humanity change if the neanderthals had never died out?

i alway wonder...how would life be different is neaderthals or some other hominid species had survived? what would that mean for humanity? i think that if we had someone else to hate maybe we would get along better. would that make things better or worse?Would the course of humanity change if the neanderthals had never died out?
They didn't die out completely - they bred with us.

ur absolutely right we would all work together whites, blacks ,asians etc. against a common enemy because we are competitive. racism between homo spienes would vanish. but over all i think it would make things worse because their will be a lot of war between the two species. true we have better technology but how long did it take us to make it. i think if they wouldnt have died out 28 thousand years ago they would have reached the same level of technology by now maybe by copying us.
No.

Neanderthals were humans. Possibly a tribe that has no died out.
